Well, even the way it was worded, though, he said to find the best person for the job.
So that wasn't the best coach.
per se, a difference in wording.
I can pick up on that, but that's not a bad point.
But I agree with you because, and this is not me saying that James Hurd shouldn't coach, as we touched on before.
Everyone deserves a second chance if this is what he wants to do.
But if you've been out of the game for as long as he had, assistant at GWS for a little bit, doing some work with Port Melbourne now,
There's no way that stacks up against some of the names that are bandied around who've been in clubs for four or five longer periods of times as assistant coaches in different roles, jumped around from different AFL clubs and learning the modern game and how it is played.
You cannot stack those up against each other.
And for that reason, I reckon if you are going to consider it, if I was to put my name in the ring, say, you wouldn't be doing it because 50-50 doesn't seem right.
Yeah.
It doesn't seem like it's going to be an even and fair race.
With James in there, no matter how it's spun.
And therefore, why would you go and put your name in there when there's other jobs on the table?
So to you, Joey, so you look at what they're doing, who's behind James Heard, all the greats of the club, Kevin Sheedy, Timmy Watson, Joe Watson as well, obviously the new CEO.
When it comes to appointing a new coach, if it's somebody who isn't James Hurd, does this not just become that doom loop again?
I would love nothing more to be wrong, and this is the fairy tale.
That's the dream.
That would be the dream.
And that's the hope.
