So it was kind of eye-opening for a lot of kids because you can tell them, as someone who did it, and I think still sometimes they look at me as just a dad of one of the guys that's on the team, and then they realize, oh, this is what someone else is telling them.
This is what it takes to get here.
Like University of Notre Dame does not take JUCOs in.
We don't take transfers.
Our education system is this.
And this is, we have 35 guys on the roster.
This happens and that happens.
So it's a little more eye-opening for them to then understand, oh, this is what it takes to kind of be here and get here sort of thing.

I'm trying to choose my words carefully here.
It's different than when I played when I was younger.
And being seen is a lot easier right now.
But the way baseball has moved with so many different organizations and different...
leagues there's a lot of push and pull of like oh do we need to go here we need to come here do we need this do we need that instead of just playing the game and enjoying it and I think that's what's kind of being lost in a lot of this right now just enjoy the game of baseball play the baseball play baseball hard play each game hard
fight out each pitch, each at bat, things like that.
Those are the kind of things that are maybe being lost in the thought process of like, I need to go here so I can go here and thinking too far ahead of what needs to be done now to get to somewhere three or four years from now.
And instead of focusing on the present of what is happening.
A little bit to answer, I guess, in a roundabout way.
The light is going on for some, but I think the way youth baseball is pushing kids in certain directions, the light will come on for some of them in a couple more years of really understanding, oh, this is what this is.
Also a great experience.
