Anthropic is the first AI company to receive entry to the military's classified systems, and its AI model, QuadGov, has been integrated for military use.
According to the New York Times, Anthropic leadership has told the Pentagon that its model cannot be used to surveil Americans, nor in autonomous weapons without human oversight.
Hegseth told Anthropic's chief executive in a Tuesday meeting that the law should be the only limit on military conduct.
Hegseth has given Anthropic until the close of business on Friday to assent to the Pentagon's demands.

It would also put Anthropic's government contracts at risk.

The mayor's comments are at odds with other New York officials, including Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
