But I just think if you're going to have a director of national intelligence, you need somebody that the president trusts.
And I think that that bond was broken some time back.
She may have been in some meetings.
There's reporting that she's had one-on-one meetings with Trump.
He's obviously not going to dismiss her in the middle of a war.
And with the resignation of the director of the Counterterrorism Center, which has gotten a lot of attention, I don't think he wants to call more attention to it.
You know, he was finally driven to the point where he had to let Kristi Noem go because she was causing more damage to him than he was willing to tolerate.
And I think we're really at that point with Tulsi Gabbard.
So I think this awaits a quiet period.
But but I don't I don't I don't see her being around for long.
Well, it was certainly interesting.
Of course, the first thing the administration did was trash him after he resigned.
I understand that process.
So do I. I do think it reflects a real split in part of Trump's base.
I think the isolationist wing of MAGA, the Republican Party, the country as a whole, is really pretty narrow, but they're very vocal.
And
While much of Trump's base will stick with him pretty much no matter what he does, the loss of this group, when you begin to see the base fragmenting, every constituent part that drops away makes it just that much harder.
And this is one that I think is probably permanently split from him.
It has less implication politically for Trump than I think it does for J.D.
Vance, who is himself an isolationist, I think.
