I sang my first solo in church when I was four years old at a massive people listening might even know what Bellevue Baptist Church is in Memphis, Tennessee.

And uh so I was like, oh, my mom is gonna be so excited to find out there's Christian rock and roll.

Everything's gonna be fine.

And uh wrong.

I came home with that tape, and my mom gave, I mean, I was in sixth grade, and my mom still gave me a butt whooping because she

She really she really was like, you have just brought in like a satanic Bible or something, or like like a whore crux from Voldemort or something like that, you know, if for anybody that knows what Harry Potter is.

I mean, they had acted as if I had brought

something so evil in and perverse.

And so I went to like Bill Gothard seminars for anybody listening that knows what that stuff is.

They were just freaking out about music.

But anyway, my mom got sick with cancer.

And uh she fought cancer for two years.

Eighth grade Petra was coming in concert to Memphis and my my buddies were going.

My parents wouldn't let me go and I was devastated.

And my mom was like, okay.
