Well, let's look at who the heavy hitters in this constituency already are.
And you have the leader of Sinn Féin, Mary Lou MacDonald.
It's her constituency.
And by any means, it would be quite the failure if she doesn't manage to bring in the candidate for Sinn Féin.
Now, we know the candidate for Sinn Féin, Janice Boylan, wasn't Mary Lou MacDonald's first choice.
She had wanted to bring in Gillian Sherratt, but Janice Boylan is on the ballot paper.
Interestingly as well, when you look at the posters around Dublin Central, I've seen for the Social Democrats who are running Daniel Ennis, they have Gary Gannon on a lot of his posters because Gary Gannon is the sitting TD.
I haven't seen that for Sinn Féin.
And that's something that you would think you'd have pictures of Mary Lou up in the constituency with Janice Boylan alongside her.
That will be a big test for Sinn Féin.
So you would think that Mary Lou's vote, she'll have some sort of personal vote and there'll be a Sinn Féin vote in the constituency that could be given to Janice Boylan.
Yes, so that is the big hurdle there or the big red flag.
No, I think it was 1,200 or something like 1,200 to 1,500 votes on first preference.
Absolutely not in the picture.
Yes, exactly.
And this was seen as kind of a rebuke to Mary Lou MacDonald and her leadership in this area and that the people in that area
selection convention or in that constituency wanted Janice Boylan.
And I suppose the idea that you're coming up through the party ranks and that, you know, you deserve to go on the ticket next and not this parachute candidate.
Well, that is what happened here.
And of course, that now will determine essentially Sinn Féin's fate here in this election.
