Obviously Sinn Fein, they talk about a border pull sooner rather than later, perhaps
perhaps as early as twenty thirty, basically three years from now, but others, elements in the SDLP and other people North and South, believe in Irish unity and Irish unity sooner rather than later.
So perhaps if he had employed a gentler tone, a less peremptory and and decisive take on things, it might have been more helpful.

Well that is rather you know, that's rather foolhardy and it it uh misunderstands how referendums actually work or maybe how they don't work.
I think people are going to have to be told
how a United Ireland might work, the steps that would be taken, especially the funding.
I mean in all the hullabaloo of Brexit uh in twenty lead into twenty sixteen, a lot of talk about money which London was remitting to Brussels was paying the EU.

It turns out that the subsidy from London to Northern Ireland it's it's hard to tranch.
It's hard because the United Kingdom accounts are structured
to be United Kingdom and not too much breakdown as to what goes to Scotland, what goes to Wales, what goes to England, what goes to Northern Ireland.
But it's reliably believed that it's of the order of sterling fourteen, fifteen billion a year.
pretty much the money that was being paid or even a little bit more than what was being paid in sort of various subscription fees to the European Union.
So I mean that's an issue.
