Maybe the worst movie ever made.
Or certainly one of them.
Another amazing one and an argument for is it better than the original is The Empire Strikes Back.
So Star Wars hits in 1977 and again as a water change or sea change moment in Hollywood and becomes this massive thing.
And that could certainly have seemed like a cash grab.
But in George Lucas's defense, he had conceived it of a trilogy.
And you know, Star Wars, the first one, ends with them blowing up the Death Star.
I don't want to go down a Star Wars rabbit hole here, which I could easily do, but it ends on a very black John.
Come back.
It ends on a very high note.
And the second movie, Empire Strikes Back, is this very dark thing where, as the name implies implies, the Empire Strikes Back.
And when you rewatch it now, it even looks very dark.
And as this middle act for a big Hollywood movie, it was kind of depressing, but brilliantly depressing.
And if nothing else, it contains, you know, if we were doing a slot about the
greatest twists in movie history of all time.
The idea
That your sworn enemy, the man you have dedicated your life to hopefully killing, turns out to be your father.
Well that would really put a grimp in your day, wouldn't it?
And that actually makes me laugh because I actually say that in our house now to the kids a lot.
No, I am your father.
