Appearances
They were, but it was still five points in.
So Meeve would think we had them at arm's length.
We had a goal chances.
But, you know...
Meave were still looking good looked like they could do enough and then that just rips it all out and I think it was 8-1 maybe 7-1 after the red card because you're a man down in defence and it's just it's such a such a drastic punishment especially for something So in your eyes what did he do?
he's shunned over a ball just before that off the kick out so he was very fired up he gets up after being tripped and hits his shoulder into someone's chest yeah that's it and Paul Falun was the referee so everything in this game was going Paul Falun referees that way and people loved that and maybe Jones expected that as well
But Sean Hurston is on the sideline radioing in to the referee to say there's a red card offence here.
I'd love to get through a weekend this summer without Sean Hurston having such a direct impact on a game.
That was such a bizarre call and not in keeping with the way the referee was.
Mayo need to play the way they played in the second half and again that's a shame Mayo were on top even when Meave had the 15 players Meave couldn't get out like Mayo had this full court press it was actually unbelievable because we talk sometimes and you think it's easier on a tactics board to say just push up man on man there but the way Mayo did it like Meave were stuck in the corner like it was it was such effort for Meave to get out to the halfway line the way Mayo were pressing all over and that
that should be Mayo.
That's Andy Moran's Mayo and that's what the crowd then were feeding off.
So that element of Castle Bar and the Mayoness was there before the Red Card.
We were just denied in this classic finish because of that.
But Mayo needed to do that from the start because it certainly wasn't there in the first action.
Because they are an emotional county and they're better.
The players are better.
Even Enda Hesham, he was unbelievable.
He was the one that kept them in the game.
And he was the one who, I think, lost the ball for the Caulfield goal when Meeve had this amazing counterattack.
