So it's an amazing success story.

The only championship it's ever won, went on and won the All-Ireland Intermediate a few years back.

So it's a really great club.

Charlene Griffiths was also the ladies' captain a few years after Brian O'McKeever.

She died as well.

So the club's had... It's sort of been... Everybody's been binded with real sorrow as well.

But...

Just the other night during training, one of the senior players collapsed.

Heart stopped working.

He stopped breathing.

And a couple of the players had the wherewithal, started doing CPR on him.

Another player ran and got the defibrillator.

And between them, the players got him back.

And now he's recovering well in hospital.

Just an unbelievable story and really shows the importance of...

defibrillators to start off with and they're sort of talking about how lucky it is because sometimes the session would have to get moved away from the clubhouse or something like that and not one person for obvious reasons would think with this this bunch of lads peak of their powers in their 20s would think we better bring the defibrillator with us to the pitch yeah where we move to you know let's get on with it we're all young healthy we're all preparing for a match that's good you know i wouldn't actually know how to work a defibrillator

I don't know what it looks like neither would I but the club are going to go on a campaign now of awareness because I remember being at a game like 12 years ago just before I moved to Dublin and it was a minor match we were just we had just trained and we were just watching this minor match and they were playing Fonville and a young lad on the other team collapsed same thing happened he just died on the pitch and

defibrillator had to get used I think it was the first time it got used at the time and since then they've put it outside whereas at the time it was like run into the kitchen find the defibrillator bring it out whereas now it's just up on the wall that anybody can grab it but they want to do a whole activation piece of like you know just knowing how to use it but even if you just think about first aid as well like I think it's I think it's mad that first aid isn't compulsory in school like it's just anybody who's done a course

It's actually terrifying then to think what you didn't know, like some simple things that you didn't know beforehand and why wouldn't you?

And what they always say, like I'm not here giving advice on first aid at all, but like what they always say at the first aid courses is doing something is better than doing nothing.
