So it begged the question,
Many of your rowers, good, solid, believable, dependable people, had been voicing their unhappiness for literally years and basically nothing happened.
But then funding was threatened and there was big action.
Rowing Ireland weren't really asked about that yesterday, but it was a logical question.
Let's talk to John Green.
John, welcome.
Thanks, Joe.
We could start in any number of places.
Why don't we pick up on that very last point that Sport Ireland, I suppose, are pointing to the fact that in 2024, even though we don't like to weaponise funding, we did threaten that some of the or all of the 1.4 million high performance funding might be suspended.
And it does look like that may be shocked rowing Ireland into some kind of action here.
So if you were on the committee yesterday, the very, I think, logical question you could ask of Una May and Sport Ireland would be, hang on a second, three years where officially you knew about this and some would say you should have known about it before even 2021 when your psychologist mentioned it.
Rumblings.
So this is going on a long time.
And it looks like more than a coincidence that when Brennan Griffin mentions this in the Dรกil and this goes very public suddenly, that you then threaten the suspension of funding.
Sport Ireland, would you concede that looks like you thought to yourselves, whoa, this has gone public.
This is getting big.
Let's cover ourselves here.
That's an interesting question that they could or should have been asked.
So out the gate, Rowan Ireland were very much on the back foot with Michelle Carpenter's last minute no show and Dominic Casey as well.
Two key witnesses relevant to the time period we're talking about.
