His default, when things are going wrong for him politically, is to go back to the same plays in the playbook, right?
And some of it's about distraction, and some of it's about this other thing, which is the darker thing, which is the midterms are coming, and his approval rating stinks, the economy's not in the best place, the ICE stuff has sparked, obviously, national outrage and turned
a lot of suburban middle-of-the-road Republicans who are not fully in the MAGA cult, a lot of independents.
The number on that's overwhelming.
Obviously, all the Democrats and even some people in the MAGA coalition seeing people, seeing someone executed on the street for nothing has had huge political consequences for him.
So he sees the midterms coming.
He doesn't want to lose.
And he knows that in this midterm, it's always the case, it's a turnout game.
How do I get
all of these people who are the bone-deep mega people, in the same way that Trump is a bone-deep racist, the bone-deep Trump devotees, how do I try to get them stirred up and get them to come out?
Because I need every single one of them to come out or we're going to lose the House and maybe the Senate, and that's a disaster for me.
And it makes no sense on some level that you think posting a racist image of Barack and Michelle Obama is going to be helpful to you politically.
For you and me, it's like, what?
That's fucking crazy.
But for Trump, you know, it's another version of
