You want to continue to inflict pain, even though it's not of a major strategic way, certainly in a tactical and operational way, on the U.S.
military and on Donald Trump.
And what I meant by miscalculation was I worry that both sides are kind of misreading the other.
The president seems to think
keeps putting pressure on Iran, they'll finally knuckle under and come to the table.
But that has not happened.
And it's not likely to happen because the people that Mr. Kushner and Mr. Wyckoff are negotiating with are not the people literally with their fingers on the triggers of the drones and the missiles.
And I worry that the Iranians are miscalculating a little bit of the desperation that the Trump administration is feeling right now.
And they might over or underestimate it.
their ability to preserve and to stay resilient.
And in other words, just invite even increased military action by Mr. Trump and now the Saudis.
I think there's a bunch of factors here, Jen.
One is that they, knowing that they were about to be attacked, and certainly there was a long buildup as the conditions were set for military operations, they probably squirreled some things away, hit them well.
They don't need a lot of time to fire off a drone or a missile.
You can do it from the back of a truck.
And so they are still capable at causing damage in these rather pinprick attacks, but they are lethal, as we've already seen.
So it's hard to defend against every single drone and every single missile that comes at you.
And Iran still obviously has the capability to do that on the on the wounds.
I mean, it's not uncommon.
