Actually, there is an energy vampire in what we do in The Shadows, the TV version.
I forgot what it's called.
It's called O'Brien, I think.

He's really boring, and that's his form of vampirism.
We all know vampires, emotional vampires.
And then the squid, that's the thing I pinched from a friend, actually.
And there are people who project their mood around them.
who can project a bad mood.
So if they come in the room and they're in a bad mood, instantly everyone in the room knows it and feels it's their duty to somehow counteract or lift the bad mood.
And those are the three typologies I sort of picked up over time.
And Sarah, the relevant character, according to Phoebe, manages to combine all three of them.
Well, it was interesting.
Again, it's that thing of I knew what she was gonna do once I'd sort of inhabited her in my head.
Actually not, because you soften towards the characters in different ways at different points.
And one of the things that makes you soften slightly, Phoebe's so proud of being spiky, it can be a bit hard to feel an empathetic connection with her.
And then when you see what she has to put up with,
you realise that it's not just the case that she's a successful screenwriter with a hit show who goes around being rude to everyone.
So actually in a funny way I felt she needed something for us to grow closer to her.
Well, it was the premise of the book.
