Well, look, I think if you were here today, you'd be definitely putting us on that list.
The sun is splitting the rocks here.
I'm looking out at the river and over at the Clare Hills, you know, and everybody's just getting out and enjoying summer.
But,
I think it's fair to say that Irish cities, I mean, I know you want to talk more broadly than just Limerick, I mean, you know, have the potential to be on that list and in the top of the list.
But some of that is going to require us to import, if that's the right word, the ideas that when we go abroad, we all love and see and say, oh, well, that's lovely to be there while we're on holidays, but it wouldn't work back here in Ireland.
So
In that context, what we're doing here in Limerick this year is we're very much broadcasting the fact that summer is happening in the city in Limerick.
We're inviting people from all over Ireland to make sure that they put us on their staycation or if they're passing through, that they spend a bit of time.
Yeah, so the superblock is only one of a couple of different things we're trialling this year.
So we're currently working up a fairly radically different transport and mobility plan for the city because Limerick, as most people I'm sure know, was designed by the Georgians as a grid pattern city.
So it gives you huge flexibility and it gives you the perfect unit that you want for one of those great cities that people can live in, which is all these various blocks that can be used flexibly.
When the Georgians built our city, they actually designed it with a couple of quiet spaces, namely some green parks, the likes of, you know, the doves would be more familiar with Marion Square and Stephen's Green.
But they also designed it with smaller meeting spaces, the kind of little plaza squares that we see today.
all over Europe.
And unfortunately, in the past couple of years, particularly when Limerick had a national route going through it, we lost those spaces to effectively those roads.
So what we're doing now this year is we're trialling to help people understand
The difference, we call it summer in the city, we're going to take some of those spaces, we're going to animate them, make them into places that people can live and play and do good stuff over the summer.
But importantly for this super block idea, which is, I mean, you always take the best ideas from other cities and make them your own, right?
But the cities like Barcelona and Bilbao in Spain that are also very much grid pattern cities.
