Alison Shock admitted to drinking at least seven vodka and Red Bulls.

And Bill Shock admitted to consuming between four and six gin and tonics, a pint of Guinness.

And they both were served wine prior to the attack as well.

And the court heard they were in fact intoxicated on the night.

So with drink on board, Bill and Alison Chalk made their way into the residence bar of the Dunraven Arms.

They're staying there for the night.

And that's where John McHugh and Gerard Cox and a number of other patrons are at the hotel bar.

And the court heard that Bill Chalk

is demanding he be served food at the bar, despite being told by staff that food is no longer available after midnight.

But he persists with these demands and he's becoming something of a nuisance.

The night bar manager told Cardi that Bill Chalk was, quote, stubborn and arrogant and persisting in asking for food again and again.

And at this stage, one of the victims, Gerard Cox, politely asks Bill Chalk,

to stop annoying the bar staff and stop causing disturbance in the bar.

Bill Chalk approaches Mr. Cox at the bar.

He engages in some verbals.

He initially goes back to his own seat, but a few moments later, he goes back over to Mr. Cox and Mr. McHugh, and he engages in some more verbals.

And then Bill Chalk lunges at Mr. Cox and attacks him.

That's it.

The assaults are captured on very good quality CCTV and some video footage recorded on the night manager's mobile phone at the Dunraven Arms on the night.

So the footage, it's played in court.
