And it sounds sexy and it sounds like, oh, you're going to save me millions of dollars.
And so that's their first foray into AI adoption.
And if you look at what the consultants out there, the KPMGs and the Accentures, et cetera, all of their studies are saying that 86% of companies have adopted AI, but their definition of adoption is that single tool.
If they've got a tool, they've adopted AI.
That's not even close to the truth.
So what happens is,
If their level of mastery, think about this, if their level of mastery is operating cumulatively in the organization around level two or three, what the vendor is pitching them on is a level eight or nine application.
And so the only one that knows what happens at a level eight or nine application is the vendor and the cumulative knowledge or expertise in the organization is
is seven levels off from that.
So they don't really know how to participate.
They don't know whether what they're providing is enough.
And they don't know how to tell when the result could be better or whether the result is really bad.
And so that's why MIT found that 95% of AI initiatives fail.
And it's really, I think they kind of misdiagnosed the root cause.
The root cause is the lack of cumulative expertise in the organization to actually assist that.
But when you get it up to that, you know, your cumulative expertise in the organization up to those level five, six and sevens, that's when all of those bigger initiatives become way more successful and you get ideas for more initiatives.
But the cost goes down because everybody knows how to participate.
And by that time, they've already built a lot of the tools that that initiative needs to be successful.
If you don't go that way and you end up just hiring a vendor, then you end up spending an enormous amount of money on an initiative that has a 95% chance of crashing and burning.
So that's the cost.
