Absolutely brilliant.

But even in attack, it's not just those.

There was a turnover as well in defence, but it was his ability to give his forwards something positive to go to in terms of over the gain line that was crucial at times.

He made metres when there were none and he ducked under and managed not...

Through footwork, and that's something I thought Ireland let themselves down a little bit as well, the lack of footwork in carrying ball.

And this touches on a little bit, and I agree with Gordon about his synopsis of Sam's performance.

Sam has got to understand that you, in certain circumstances, you use a little bit of footwork and you decide not to throw the pass.

And I was talking about him in the player ratings, the game management aspect, that's the game management aspect

of his job, if you like, is sometimes whatever's called or whatever happens, you need to make those good decisions and finish on the right side of them.

And the other person, I thought, who had a brilliant game for Ireland was Jack Conan at number eight.

Again, as a player who got Ireland over the game line, time and again, his ability, his path for a Jemison Gibson Park try was great, but he worked so hard to close down space.

He worked so hard...

to carry into tacklers.

But again, one of the aspects of Jack Colan's performance was his footwork in contact.

He was able to kind of use his feet to get a softer shoulder to get in and through the first tackle.

And I thought he did a brilliant job and I thought he kept going brilliantly throughout.

And for all the scrum issues when Taniello Tupu came on, I thought that actually Tom O'Toole again carried and tackled.

I mean, you're looking for people to do a lot of the basics.

Dan Sheehan's general play around the pitch was excellent.

The line-out was an issue and yet the line-out was the conduit for two or three of Ireland's tries, I think.
