So Yunnan is in western China in the mountainous region.

It is phenomenally beautiful.

has dozens of what they called ancient cities that are centuries and centuries and centuries old, very popular with Chinese, but completely unknown to us.

So I was often the very only Western, you know, visibly Western tourist everywhere I went.

And it was just an incredible discovery all the way through.

It would be a barrier.

I did happen to have a translator, but people were so helpful and supportive everywhere I went.

And I was a little bit of a novelty, so they went out of their way to help me as well.

So I think, you know, like the backpacking you did of yore, where you really have to challenge yourself a little bit.

That's kind of a nice, increasingly rare travel experience now, too, isn't it?

It's good to be kind of shunted out of your comfort zone a bit.

But phenomenally beautiful, incredible food, amazingly affordable.

I think that travel is, and I'm sure everyone would agree, travel is a net positive.

We're more committed to doing good in the world when we appreciate it.

So I'm very conscientious about who I work with, what tour operators I support, and the destinations I go to as well.

So a good example for me of how travel can be extremely beneficial is if you consider safari.

So I've been on a few where the people staying in hotels will support a lodge that maybe has a concession 200,000, 300,000 acres that simply couldn't be protected from poaching and the like.

So I think you can operate within parameters with your own moral code and ensure that you're doing something that is contributing positively to that environment.

And we talk a lot about over-tourism, but other destinations are desperate for people to go there.
