I think that's a positive from it.
And I think also lessons learned.
It's like anything else.
If you survive and you win a match, you analyze the game and you see things that worked and didn't work.
And I think what Gordon has touched on there is absolutely 100% accurate.
It didn't work.
So you would be silly to try and revisit something like that if you were playing in a final and it was foisted on you again.
Can you imagine if that, through a succession of injuries, happened eight minutes into the final against Bordeaux?
If you look at where 10s defend, so if you look at any long kick, the 10 is in the backfield.
The thing with Sam is nobody would deny how much ability he has.
The problem is that when aspects of your game come into focus,
for whatever reason, then the spotlight remains on that aspect of your game until it changes or until you improve it and develop it.
And unfortunately for him, it is going to be that way.
So how he can improve in a very short space of time is difficult to say in the context of where the season is at the moment.
I think what you can do for him is work hard with him.
And there's no doubt he has to be working hard in training.
So there has to be something, there has to be a switch that flicks either with the player or with the group or finding a way to get a better outcome in terms of what's being done.
And I'm sure he will get game time over the next couple of weeks.
And it's up to him to fight for his place in the 23rd.
because there will be lots of options now in terms of that 23.
