who had missed the Six Nations actually with a dislocated shoulder.

And he suffered a recurrence of the dislocation in the All Blacks game in the Baby Blacks match, making a tackle on 37 minutes.

So I caught up with him and we had a chat about the game itself, life in general, some of his teammates.

And yeah, he was just, he's a very interesting character.

He's back.

He's working for Salesforce now back in Dublin, had been in London for five or six years, went from back to the Munster Academy, broke his leg, I think, the year after.

Just very unlucky with injuries, the timing of injuries.

Played for Munster for a season, went up to Ulster.

Munster at the time, I think, probably had Joey Carberry, Tyler Blendal,

I think JJ Hanrahan would have been back around that time as well.

So, like, it wasn't as if there was a bit of a logjam at out half in Munster.

Went up to Ulster, was again unlucky, I think, with a couple of injuries, then went across and joined his brother David in Ealing Trailfinders, where he hooked up, I think, with Stephen Kearns, who would have played, would have been his scrum half, if you like, in that 20s group.

And then he played a little bit at Richmond as well before kind of stopping a few years ago and

and taking up his career in business.

So yeah, very good.

Like he would have been considered at the time to be a special talent.

So one of those guys that was just really unlucky with injuries and never got a kind of fair crack.

And when he did get an opportunity was just, as he said himself, he just, he didn't take them, didn't take enough of them at the time.

And he had options when he was retiring, not to retire, if you like, had options in France and Australia.

but decided that he better drive on in terms of his career, his life after rugby and kind of brought that to an end.
