So that in itself can justify why China could be buying gold.
Uh the jewelry market's an interesting one.
I mean
Again, if I uh i i if I look back into history
When the World Gold Council was started in the eighties, something like seventy or eighty percent of demand for gold each year went into the jewelry market.
You know, the price was three hundred, three hundred and fifty dollars an ounce, on its way down to two hundred and fifty dollars an ounce.
So jewelry was by far the biggest component of the market then.
Investment was very small, technology still small as it is now, and central banks were selling.
Now
Jewelry demand makes up
Less than a third uh of overall demand, and it'll be down sharply this year as well.
It's an important component of the market still, don't get me wrong, but it's nowhere near as important as it used to be.
Now, India is one of the biggest uh consumers of gold.
Um last five, ten years it's been overtaken somewhat by China, although that does vary uh uh upon you know the strength of the economy and and and sentiment, etcetera.
But
Jewelry demand is down every in every country around the world in tonnage terms.
Uh and you'd look at that and you say, Well, the high high gold price is bad for jewelry and that's true in tonnage terms.
But if you just look at the the amount of dollars people are spending in these countries on jewelry, that's gone up everywhere.
So I I think the jewelry market's actually really healthy.
It's just responding the way you'd think it would when prices go up a lot.
