But was your experience that everyone there was having a similar access and really benefiting from that sort of one-to-one support?
There's a very powerful line of yours where you describe many women once eager to die, now far too angry to do so.
Could you talk a bit about what that means and how you feel perhaps the system
I think you also said, I'm now going to misquote this, but the catastrophic diagnosis is to be female.
Yeah.
That's the worst thing you've done.
That's the reason you're in prison.
Sorry, you said something like the original offence was being a woman.
And what's brought them to prison is either reaction to abuse or to addiction that's been...
used to deal with abuse or fighting back against abuse.
So could you talk about sort of witnessing that and your experience of that?
And I think it's really important, like flip side to that mental health message of, you know, just speak to someone, just reach out, we should talk more.
Yeah, there are an awful lot of people with very dire need who have tried time and time again reaching out and calling the numbers and speaking to someone and hammering on the door and demanding care and not getting it.
What part did faith play in your mental health and incarceration?
Because it's clear reading your poetry that there is sort of a religious element.
A lot of the things you're describing are sort of drifting in and out of religious practices or observance.
I wondered if it was helpful to have another sort of compartment in your brain to go to
Yeah.
So in prison you start working for Prison Radio and presenting a show.
