It's the silliest thing I've ever heard.
And, and, and by the way, there are five teams licking their chops, hoping that the, the, you know, the Cronky family decided they've had enough of Jared Bednar.
So the question for Kenny would be, are you better off with Jay Woodcroft bringing in a new coach, or would you be better off with DJ Smith, who knows your team right now?
Is Jay a better coach than DJ Smith?
I believe that Jay is a better coach than DJ Smith, but by how much and how long would it take?
I think Kenny has a true affection for Jay because of his time together in Edmonton.
But I do think, from the way you put it, I think that Jay might be a perfect coach for the Maple Leafs for the next three years.
Now, here's the thing, Bob.
When you get hired to be the Maple Leafs coach this time around, you're lasting three years before they feel that they're back on top and then they're going to go try to find an elite coach.
Unless Jay proves that he can be that elite coach, he's going to be fodder.
He's going to be the Jeff Blaschel of Detroit.
Because that's just the way coaching goes right now in the National Hockey League.
That's just the way it happens.
I do think Jay has grown up a lot.
I do think he's matured.
I think that that last six to eight weeks in Edmonton as the head coach were a mistake by him.
I think he thought he was more important to the process than he really was.
And, you know, he had great success early on.
And that can't help but go to your head.
You know that as well as I do.
