a suspicious that you could be there for days, you know, processing the scene and bringing stuff back to headquarters to be treated again and examined and all that sort of stuff.
How old were you when you went onto that scene?
98, Christ, I'm trying to remember now.
It was about 2026, I'd say, maybe.
And was that a proper shock to the system for you then?
The scene itself wasn't too bad because, you know,
We were there searching around the place and we were looking for a fragment of the bullet.
But then I remember we went to the PM afterwards and it was a very small mortuary or morgue or whatever you may call it.
But when they started the PM, they stripped the body and all that sort of stuff.
But the air conditioning wasn't on at the start.
And, you know, when the PM starts and the body's opened and all that sort of stuff, you find out pretty quick if you've got a strong stomach or not.
Because we had to step out, we had to put the air conditioner on, you know, get a bit of air flowing through.
But then, like, you know, I was told, like, fingerprint the body.
And, you know, we usually do the printing the body when the PM is over.
So the body is all dissected and opened up and then you have to ink up the hands.
The ballistics man got me to swab the deceased's hands for firearm residue.
And it was quite interesting because he was showing me the bullets in the revolver.
had all these kind of just little scrapes down the sides of the casings.
And he was saying, like, when his opinion was that that gun had been loaded and unloaded many times.
