Let's see the flag you're carrying, Matt, and kind of explain to everybody why your flag is upside down.
So the flag being upside down is a symbol of distress.
So normally what would happen is if you were in a base or a fob or whatnot and you were being overrun or you needed supplies or you were in trouble, you would turn your flag upside down, raise it to the top of the flagpole to show that you were in distress, you need help.
We're flying this flag right now as veterans here in Washington, D.C., because we see that the military occupation of our country right now through the use of the National Guard in D.C.
and the proposed use of the National Guard across 19 other states is unconstitutional.
And it's just a way of threatening the people of the United States from speaking out against the man that's in the house behind me.
He said you're saying it's a sign of distress, but do you feel like you're desecrating the flag by doing that?
No, no, no.
Desecration of the flag is co-opting the flag for ideologies that are antithetical to what the United States should be standing for.
So if your idea of patriotism is sending the National Guard to police its citizens, I'd say that would be desecrating the flag.
If your idea of patriotism is rounding up citizens and people that are just trying to make a better life for themselves in the middle of the night, that's desecration of the flag.
Me standing out here saying that we have a problem and using the proper course of action by turning the flag upside down to do it, that's not desecration of the flag.
That's what it's there for.
Yeah, so he's talking about the executive order that was signed today, how that's performative patriotism rather than actually following the spirit of the Constitution.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So this idea that burning the American flag is somehow dangerous to the country or that it's unconstitutional to do that or people riot whenever you do it,
