But the reason Trump can deploy ICE is because ICE has this other pool of funding, a $75 to $80 billion pool of funding that they're just gonna run off of, right?

So this is a symbolic effort to say we're not sending any more money to ICE.

That's why the government's shutting down.

Then the negotiations are, we'll open everything up

but ICE, right?

Even that will have no impact actually on ICE.

Democrats came out in favor of that, Republicans in favor of that.

Trump doesn't want to do that.

He wants to add all these things on top of it.

Ironically, right, like any resolution that would have a positive impact on what ICE is able to do or not to would be the result of even more concessions on both sides.

The only way to actually limit what ICE will do in the next few years is through a negotiation that's not about not funding ICE, that's actually about getting to funding ICE, which is so far from where we're at right now because we're having this sort of purely symbolic conversation about ICE in the airports and whether or not we'll let TSA agents get paid.
