Okay, that they traded two months of his starts.
In his first five starts, he's got a five ERA or so, but a big start from tonight against Mill.
Milwaukee.
I I expect him to be good down the stretch for the Cubs, and they need him to be good.
But by trading Gossman, you've got someone who's now in your lineup basically every day.
And and again, Bateman doesn't have to hit 30 homers a year to be a valuable player.
And so the way that he has come in, and really, again, it's it sounds a little bit odd to say it, uh, but the Jays would not be in this situation, right?
Now without Brett Bateman in terms of what he's given them.
He has given them a lift at a time when they needed it.
And the only reason they've got him is they created Kevin Gossman to get him.
So it's this is one of those, and I I made this statement before and I'll I'll say it again because I think it really it you you sort of broached it by talking about the the reviews of Ross's work.
The reality is we always hear at this time of year, or in July rather, oh, we're gonna thread the needle.
gonna buy and sell.
We're gonna have a hybrid approach and find a way to get better.
It's so hard to execute that.
The Jays have done it.
They have become a better team since the deadline, even as they mostly, not entirely, but mostly sold.
And that is a very difficult thing to do and a great credit, I believe, to the organization.
Would I be shocked?
