and just my dad used to take me on these long walks because that was the only way i could feel good was just because i wanted to run away from myself you know when you're having an anxiety attack you just want to get away from yourself and uh i was just i was getting all these emails from management record companies going you know come on we've got to write another record and i was like the last thing i wanted to be around was the music industry and my dad one on one of these walks just turned to me and said
bro you realise you don't have to go back if you don't want to do it and that was actually the thing that got me out of my thing just having someone give me permission to not have to do something you know like and then from there I started writing again but it was cool because he's a carpenter you know like he had no frame of reference for the music industry but he could see I was in pain but he was a dad to a son he was a dad you know and it was like man it made me really appreciate my father you know
going into things like that and made me miss them, actually.
I mean, you know, the book does go into my little, you know.

Yeah, without fail, every time Dad would come up and go, you know, Frank Sinatra didn't have to swear.
But, you know, they were like... I mean, once they got over the fact that I gave up being the captain of the Wellington Rep cricket team, like, Dad was really bummed at first.
He was like...
Man, he thought I was going to be a black cap and stuff.
And then I think once they saw how passionate I was about the band, they just became our biggest fans and were at every show, man.
That's pretty much where it ends, you know, and just how joyous that show.
It was good watching that.
But yeah, I mean, for me, that was like,
pretty much the perfect she had show like we covered the whole of our career and talked to the audience in a way that was more just human you know like it was a really human experience and and for me I just felt privileged to be there you know like and actually to have that celebration you know
