So our guest today is Jeff Hawkins.
He's probably best known amongst laymen for starting palm computing, which marketed the palm pilot.
And we is for those of us who are old enough, remember that revolutionary device, particularly the language that was used to enter data, which Jeff invented, and he has some good stories about that in the book.
After Palm was over, Jeff devoted his life to the his real passion, which is how does the human brain work.
Founded Redwood Neuroscience in 2002, and then co-founded Numenta, which is a research organization devoted to figuring out how the brain works.
As we already mentioned, he's also author of A Thousand Brains, which I highly recommend worth reading.

Well, Jeff, everybody talks about AI.
The reason we were interested in talking to you is I've read your two books, one of which is The Thousand Brains.
And you know, you start that book off with making an observation, which I thought was pretty important.
And once you made that observation, it seemed to me that you were right in saying that the way most people approach the human brain was incorrect.
The observation was that neurons just
Just don't fire often enough.
To be a CPU, that they're too slow to be a CPU.
And as a result, you may have to rethink.
Now, what I took away from that book was the way the brain works is this gigantic memory device that basically predicts the next move, and that the only time it goes into CPU mode is if the next move is unexpected.
