You know, in the sort of Cheever Ford kind of canon of short story books, you expect a certain sort of consistency of tone and vibe.

You don't get that here with Chris Ames.

I mean, you kind of do it away.

It's all coming from the same sort of arch intelligence, but he is really playing.
