You know, that was his response.
My mom, we just talked about this three weeks ago and she was listening to some interviews I've done about the book.
And she called me.
She just said, I feel like I let you down.
I feel like I should have known it.
I'm a mama's boy.
She has three boys.
I'm the middle child.
So I grew up watching Oprah with her.
So I'm very introspective.
And I just told her, I said, no, mama, no, you didn't let me down.
You didn't drop the ball.
This is the way it was supposed to happen because I couldn't have a testimony if I didn't have a struggle.
And so she kind of felt like she had failed.
let me down.
And I write about her in a book how she worked so hard with me reading and helping me truly be nice to myself.
Going to the African-American community and just the Black community, as I would say, you know, when I say the word therapy, that can, you know, it's not a lot of people that I know.
I've surrounded myself with people that have gotten older now.
When I was growing up, you didn't talk about therapy or going to therapy as a Black person.
