Russia has released a French researcher jailed for violating foreign agent laws.

Laurent Venatier received a three-year sentence when Russia's security service accused him of collecting sensitive political and military information on behalf of Switzerland.

He's been swapped for Daniel Kasatkin, a Russian basketball player arrested by French authorities in Paris last June...

and wanted by the United States for allegedly being involved in ransomware attacks.

He denied those allegations.
