I think that's the internationally recognized symbol for someone who's just been sacked.

But

She hadn't been sacked.

In fact, she was on her way to the White House, and those boxes contained evidence.

And there was this meeting last night in the Oval Office with Donald Trump, a huge blow-up, apparently, where she presented her case, saying there was no case for us to answer here.

There was simply not enough evidence for us to charge these people.

And in fact, the evidence shows that this was a botched refurb job.

The temperature's been a bit lowered since then.

And he apparently understood what she said and accepted it.

But I think you're right.

It's really interesting about what it says for working for Donald Trump, because, you know, as we know, as we've talked about many, many times.

Donald Trump, his genius as a politician, as a businessman, as an entertainer, has been to visualize the reality he wants and then just relentlessly repeat it, hammer it home until it becomes home.

And it works.

You know, it's worked with foreign policy, it's worked within the Republican Party.

But when it comes to the courts, when it comes to the legal system, you know, the justice system.

I think it's somewhere he struggled and this case is almost emblematic of that.

Yeah, absolutely.

And I think, you know, one of the defining features of Trump's second term has been the way that he has weaponized the Justice Department in his own aims.

But it's what makes this particular case so interesting because it's so rare for one of his hand-picked acolytes to defy him.

And it's particularly embarrassing because Trump has made his name as a builder, a project manager, someone who can get these things done.
