No, I completely agree.
This makes absolutely no sense to me.
I don't I can't think of a time where I ever had a judge want oral argument after a prelim.
Every single prelim that I've ever been involved in.
And we don't do many in New York.
We did much more in California.
The decision was made before you walked out of the courtroom after it was over after the court.
the conclusion of the evidence.
You didn't get two months to brief and then like that doesn't happen.
Why is it happening here?
And Mark is claiming, well, it's happening because he wants to be extra careful.
Okay, it's a death penalty case.
But I have to call bullshit on that.
And here's why.
This is just one step in the process.
Bind this guy over for trial because there's ample evidence to do that.
The defense will have plenty of opportunity to file motions, to suppress evidence, to do whatever they want, to bring in other experts, to do all that.
Then you have the trial, which this was a dress rehearsal for.
And then you have the appeal.
Like, we don't need to solve all the world's problems at the end of this prelim.
