I want to ask about how the role of culture in Ukraine has changed over the four years since you've been reporting on it. podcast-host

Because earlier those quotations that I read and you read as well of people saying, you know, there is no poetry at times like this, or or or or what you describe as that very initial diary writing and just reporting on what's podcast-host

A lot of them were coming from earlier from about 2022. podcast-host

And over the course of the book, I get a sense that the artists themselves are going on a real journey of understanding the role that their practice and art and culture is playing in their lives and in the context of the war more broadly. podcast-host

And there's a sense that you talk about in the book, but there's a sense that in a context where you have an invader in Putin and Russia insisting that there is no such thing as independent Ukrainian culture, that that it's just part of Greater Russia, the very act of of writing about Ukrainian experience, of of writing in Ukrainian, of writing against Russia. podcast-host
