Anyway, Hasan said that he told me field pieces, he thought of them as, if you think of each field piece as an indie film,
you'll have a better time doing it.
And I was like, man, what a genius framing.
These field pieces are independent films.
They're five minute short films.
And there's a beginning, middle, end, and you're out there and you got to make the scenes connect.
There's such a fun art to them.
And it was one of my favorite parts of the show.
And I think it has evolved.
And we can talk about the ways in which it's evolved and changed and the style has changed.
As an early fan of the show, it was all of the segments.
I loved John's monologues, which have also evolved in the way in which they're told.
And the desk segments.
But the field pieces always have, like... They were... At the time, when they were originally there, they were just making fun of the news that you saw.
Yes.
And...
brought such stupidity to such an art form.
Yes.
And again, we can't emphasize enough that these were parodying something you would see on the news all the time or satirizing or whatever.
