So did some data digging in preparation for this episode and here are some numbers.
According to a survey of pet parents that was conducted in 2022, so a little bit older, but I think this still rings true today and it might even be a little higher, between 52 and 64 percent of pet owners are skeptical when it comes to pet food companies that claim their products are sustainable.
We're just not buying it.
Fewer than one in five say that they just believe those claims at face value.
So you see a bag and you see a claim and you say, yeah, that's probably true.
Fewer than one in five people do that.
I know I am not that half of a person.
I'm definitely in the skeptic camp.
But despite all that skepticism, right, we have...
60 to 69 percent of pet owners saying that they do research on sustainability before they purchase a product from a company or purchase a product outright.
So like they're trying.
They care and they want to do it right.
They just feel like they're being lied to or I don't know, like like everything's being greenwashed.
That kind of sucks.
