Good morning, everyone.

I am Chito Vela, Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Austin, along with Council Member Paige Ellis, representing District 8.

And we're here to celebrate the 2026 Kids Fest.

This is going to be the 21st annual St.

John Unity Walk and 11th annual Kids Fest, which will be on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

This is going to be, I want to say, the 4th?

Kids Fest that I have been to, and it is one of the best events that I attend.

It's a beautiful parade this year.

The route's a little bit different, but it's a beautiful parade this year over to the Virginia Brown Recreation Center.

And the event is for families.

It provides resources.

It's a lot of fun for kids.

It's just a great community event, bringing people together to celebrate the St.

John community and to celebrate really the whole Northeast Austin community.

And it's just a pleasure to be part of it and really looking forward to celebrating on Saturday.

I've got to thank Austin Voices for Education and Youth, who have been just strong supporters of Kids Fest, Child Incorporated, Kids Living Well, Lock Arms for Life, and the City of Austin's Office of Violence Prevention.

And with that, let me turn it over to Councilmember Ellis to say a few words as well.
