What stands out is how her leadership has been present during critical moments, especially during winter storm Yuri.
Taniqua played a pivotal role in supporting residents at Mount Carmel Village, helping connect neighbors,
to essential resources during a time of great need.
That was a horrible time for so many people, and it was a beautiful thing to see so many community members just stand up and go and help where the help was needed.
In the years since, Mount Carmel Village Association, which Taniqua helped establish, has continued to serve as a strong and consistent voice for its residents.
Her work reflects a broader commitment to ensuring that Austinites not only have access to housing, but that they are supported, informed, and empowered within their communities.
Taniqua Brewster's efforts serve as an example of the impact that community-driven leadership can have across our city.
