Now Verkoyansk is a town in the Verkoyansky District, Sakha Republic, Russia.
The town is situated on the Yana River, near the Arctic Circle, four hundred and nineteen miles from Yakutsk.
Verkoyansk occupies an area of about ten square miles and had a population of 1,311 people in 2010.
The average temperature is minus forty-five point four degrees C in January, but reaches an average of plus sixteen point five degrees C in July.
In fact, Verko Yansk holds the Guinness World Record for the highest temperature range one hundred five degrees C between winter and summer.
