What are we to make of what Justin Rose is doing?
Number five player in the world, kind of really at an important moment in his career in terms of solidifying his legacy.
Two majors would do a lot for Justin Rose, I think, as the way that we view him through history.
One major doesn't really feel like enough for how good he's been.
Obviously, he's been in multiple playoffs with the Masters.
But I really feel like why now?
Obviously, you need to maximize your value, and so you feel like switching clubs at this moment might do that.
You have an equity piece in McLaren sort of moving forward.
You're hoping this will be part of your next stage in life in golf.
These will be kind of a luxury brand of irons that people will look at and want to play and want to be a part of.
But man, you sure are potentially sacrificing your last great chances to win a major.
I mean, at the 2018 BMW, the last time we went to Aronamink, Justin Rose ended up in a playoff with Keegan Bradley.
So this course obviously suits him pretty darn well in terms of suit in his eye and just being able to make shots.
That's eight years is a long time ago, but Justin Rose is still a really good player.
We've already been through this once.
The Hanma experiment didn't work.
I don't really like to get deep into the gearhead stuff because I feel like some of it is kind of overblown.
So I don't know that I'll necessarily put a ton of stock into him playing poorly right away with these irons.
But man, it just seems like in the middle of the season...
when you've already played pretty darn well at the first major of the year, that you are risking so much in terms of what you could potentially do by just switching up irons and saying, oh, well, I see the numbers look a lot better on the range.
