I remembered how his parents used my car one day without asking just to go to the gas station and get snacks when I worked in an hour.
I don't think things will change.
It's odd to say, as I know he has a a different culture with more of a community perspective.
Essentially what's mine is yours and they share basically everything.
Like you're obligated to care for everyone and your family, but I'm white, so I guess I feel I come from a more selfish background.
I only brought up race because I feel worse for walking away from them.
I feel like I'm being greedy and this is something that can really help them.
They essentially grew up in poverty and my boyfriend did as well.
But I can't take it.
I know that was one small thing, but it added up from the boys ignoring me when I asked them to do something and his parents not disciplining them in response.
One morning I asked the boys to clear the stove and the counters and would cook breakfast for everyone and they didn't.
They just laid in bed for another hour or so.
My boyfriend and I took our sons to go get breakfast without them, uh, because his parents weren't home.
I told my boyfriend to call his mom and let her know in case they complained we didn't cook for them.
She didn't know we she was on speaker and yelled at him, saying something along the lines of, You should have done it.
They've been doing a lot for you and you keep asking them for stuff.
That's why they don't want to help you anymore.
Then not ten minutes later she called and asked him for a favor, like that call never happened.
And he never patched things up with her.
I don't think he will.
