I mean, I've seen a lot of this stuff lately, which I find kind of interesting and it's a great thought experiment just to kind of wrap your head around it.
But the amount of time it takes you to save to get to 300K is half the distances it takes for you to save to get to a million.
If you're saving a thousand a month,
and your portfolio grows to 300K, you're halfway there.
And it just doesn't seem that that's logical because you'd say, well, 500,000 would be halfway to a million, but because of the value of the compounding.
And I'm sure you could do that for all sorts of numbers to 2 million and 5 million and whatever.
And whatever your goal is,
It seems really impossible to get to.
I don't care what the number is that you're trying to reach or where you are.
Unless you measure backwards on trying to get a sense of what your progress has been, the idea of compounding in the future, it's very hard to comprehend.
It's very hard to believe.
It's very hard to experience in real time.
And no matter where you are in that process, it can feel pretty discouraging.
It's not until you have done it for a while and then look back to be able to go, oh, wow, I remember a time I had 100 grand.
Now I have 300.
Like, holy crap.
That's awesome.
