Happened over and over, and it used to make me crazy.

And I finally figured out a simple two-word response that changed everything.

When they would say, I never would have guessed you were black, my response was, why not?

And I think the right question, plus the confidence to stand on the question,

And so going through life with a willingness to ask more questions than you make statements, liberating.
