To see the way that soccer has pierced into the mainstream.
Truly, I think that Canadian soccer has pierced into the mainstream in this World Cup.
I think for the first time ever, I think it gives a lot of hope to the soccer community that, you know, years from now, a generation from now, soccer might be the kind of sport that is considered on par with hockey.
Wow, that's a big shot.
Well, no, it is.
But it is.
And I think it's important to share why.
You look at the way that Canada is trending in terms of demographics, right?
More and more, you know, in the last census, 23% of all people living in Canada were born outside of Canada.
And with that, they bring a love of soccer, you know, that was formed from other countries.
Hockey is becoming such an expensive sport to play.
Hockey is continually mired in scandal after scandal.
Soccer is on a real upward trajectory.
And the success of the men's and women's national teams, I think, is only going to bolster that.
To me, if Canada have a chance, it's going to be focusing on their strengths, which is defending as a unit, defending compactly, trying to run Morocco into the ground, and then just hoping, you know, praying to the soccer gods that Jonathan David has a day.
That's been rare this World Cup, but if Jonathan David can score, good things usually come for Canada.
I don't know.
