It's a very specific portrait of the kind of laissez-faire parenting, which, you know, I remember when his mother finds out that the woman that he's dating, the thing that she's horrified by is not the age gap, but that she doesn't think that the woman is attractive enough for her son.

It's a very, very precise.

That's exactly it.

And like, that's also kind of what makes this book so great.
Like if a book could have a smell, this book smells like a 1989 Gristiti's on Columbus Avenue.
