by god i plan to make sure you do it or we're going to call you out each and every time there is a process what i do know is had the roles been reversed by now there would likely have been already arrest made it wouldn't have taken all
six days, seven days, or whatever amount of days it's going to take.
Had the roles been reversed, justice, the wheels of justice spin quickly.
I have countless examples.
When I practiced in Mississippi, I can give you one very specific example that happened probably 10 years ago in 2016.
There was a young black man who went to work and left
Uh, accidentally his child, eight month old child in a hot car and a child died a hundred days before that there had been a white woman who did the same thing.
Uh, she was never arrested, never charged for anything.
Uh, never indicted my client, uh, who I represented pro bono after he was arrested was immediately the same day that child dad was immediately arrested and charged with a second degree murder, the same offense, but different race, different gender.
And she got the benefit of the doubt, but my client.
And his reaction was caught on camera.
He was hysterical when he found out he had done the unthinkable.
But yet they showed no mercy for him initially and were bound and determined to send him to prison for making the same mistake that the white woman had made 100 miles down the road.
And because I was not going to let him get railroaded,
representing a pro bono.
We kept him out of prison.
They were insistent on prison time.
They finally decreased it to culpable negligence, manslaughter.
And he said if he pled to that, that he would not have to go to prison.
And he could not risk the trial until he decided to go ahead and plead.
