It stands to widen the wealth gap even further, and it's already happening.
You're already seeing if certain people can't reach a milestone and their parents assist them, that puts the pressure on other parents to do the same.
And in the research that I'm including in the article from Martha Ripple, she mentions that lower-income families are still doing this.
They're giving money.
You know, they're not not trying to help their children.
But if wealthy families are giving money to their children and then lower-income families are doing the same,
It just perpetuates the same cycle we're in.
I interviewed a couple.
Their names are Kami and Adam.
And they received money from Kami's mom in order to put down a down payment on their apartment.
And it's really interesting talking to them because Adam grew up in Texas.
Kami and her mom were both born in Bulgaria and then immigrated to the United States.
And the attitude that Kami's mom had was, why would I not help you with this?
Apartments are expensive.
This is an investment in your future.
I have the resources.
Let me help you.
And the way Adam grew up, he grew up in Texas, you know, this like culture of rugged individualism in America.
And at first he sort of balked at that.
He said, no, we can't accept it.
