So speaking with financial advisors, they all said that
If this is a big purchase that you have the room to make right now, you should be thinking of your own financial preparedness, not any sort of market timing.
So if you have to pull the plug right now on this plan, you're not doing so because of the interest rate.
You're doing so because of your wallet or some other sort of method in your finances.
It's definitely worth it because that is actually a silver lining.
When rates go up, we typically see higher rates on savings products.
So people looking at high yield savings accounts, they'll see that those rates are higher.
That's a point where we like rates to be high.
We like being able to get more annual percentage yield in our savings.
So definitely worth it for somebody who has already been putting money there or finds that they have money freed up to put that in a savings account.
Credit card balances are one of those areas where every financial advisor I spoke to said that you should be treating that with a sense of urgency.
When we see rates go up, we typically watch credit card APRs creep up.
So that means any debt you're carrying right now is going to be more expensive.
And a lot of people have been putting money on credit cards because it's the holidays, but also because inflation's been eating into their spending power.
So if you're looking at that for the new year, you should prioritize paying down your debt.
This is top of mind for a lot of people right now.
And speaking to financial advisors, they said that they typically recommend people save, you know, three months minimum of reserves to prepare for this.
But a lot of advisors are saying if you have the bandwidth, save more.
Several major employers are cutting positions.
A lot of companies are freezing hiring.
